Topic #5

I believe that otis students more often follow their moral incentives when deciding whether or not to plagiarize on a paper or not. The perks of cheating on a paper are obvious, quicker completion, less work on the student's part, and the greater possibility that they will receive a decent grade. However, for me I think that even though there are definite advantages to cheating, that the disadvantages of plagiarizing and cheating heavily outweigh them. To address one reason people cheat, they think it will get them finished with homework quicker, in my case i would have to constantly check my plagiarized work and make sure that it wasn't obvious that i had copied it. that alone would cause me more stress then finishing a paper on time. The constant checking and revising my plagiarized work would in the end cause me more work then less. Lastly, the guarantee of a decent grade would not satisfy me enough. Personally, i strive to achieve higher than average grades for my own work and leaving my fate as a student up to someone else's work is not something that i am willing to risk. if i write a crap paper than i would rather get a bad grade for it knowing that i earned that bad grade instead of cheating and hoping that grade is better than i would have gotten if i would have only tried myself. In general i believe that most students would agree with my reasons not to plagiarize and if they do it it is most likely not intentional.
