attainable power
Information is a power, a power that can be used by any person in any class of any society. This "power" can be used in ways of good and evil. As said in Freakonomics, the internet has created a more level playing field for people around the world to attain information. Now there is a greater need to seek out the unknown, a greater need to gain the unknowable, and I believe the root of the problem starts here. At the beginning of the process, where the searching and investigating go into effect is where the misuse of power and outright lying appear. Most of us work and are beginning to live in a very dog-eat-dog kind of world, where back stabbing, and stepping on or over people to achieve what we want is done without a blink of an eye. It seems perfectly logical that people abuse the power of information, which makes it even easier to understand the willingness to cheat and lie in order to get this information, or "power." The person who often has the better or more information is usually the winner or the person who makes it out on top. This competitiveness of the need to be on top is where the morals of people often come into play, this power that is so strong can most definitely be more powerful than a physical power. Information comes with great responsibility, and just like other responsibilities there are pros and cons, and like in all these cases there will always be a person willing to abuse this power, as soon with the KKK and there misuse of the knowledge of fear.
