I love this song and I love the Beatles. While this song could possibly have many meaning, especially in relation to drugs, I have chosen to take the lyrics at face value. My friends mean the world to me, and so I love what the Beatles put into their lyrics, about the importance and how much one can depend on their friends. I believe this song illustrates the power of friendship, while it does not have to be everything in live, and there is always room for loving someone else, friends are there through the thick and then and are, or at least they should be , always ready to give a helping hand. This song is fun, up beat and just pure joy, much of what a friendship should be like. The key point of this song is "I get by with a little help from my friends" while yes, this could have various meanings, but in the most pure and innocent terms, it means that it is very hard to get by without your friends, and that friends must be good friends because their friends depend and need them.
