People often just omit information to distort the truth and don't see it as a lie. I think that is the most common form of lying and the most socially acceptable. It's still lying though if you are not conveying the truth, either by making something up or leaving something out. Like Clinton saying he did not have sex with that women...but what did he leave out?
Other ways people abuse information is exaggeration. They don't see it as a lie because it's still the same story...just better.
