Topic #7
I believe ordinary people do abuse certain information, when they feel that they are confident and know more about it than others, like the real estate agents explained in "Freakonomics." Since the agents know more about the business and the outcomes, they are able to "act" like helping their customers, but in reality they are just want to make cash quick, and are lazy to fully help the customers out. They are using their knowledge as an advantage to trick, or maybe just get things over with quickly. Others companies will try to sell certain things to people stating "it's the best," or "it's the cheapest." However, these days ordinary people that aren't an expert in certain areas could go on the internet and gain information and have as much knowledge as the sales person or any one. An example I could think a out is the art store graphaids. It is located near Otis. The workers say they give student discounts, however it is fairly expensive. And students that don't know better about the actually costs of supplies will buy what they say and get the materials. However, in reality they are ripping students off since they know students don't know the actual prices. If you go to other art stores you can buy things ALOT cheaper even without student discounts. But student's don't have a choice but to go there since many students don't have a car, and it's the closes place to Otis.
