When I'm given a topic to write about, I usually like to think about the topic before I commit to any writing. I'll often think about the topic when I'm doing my daily routines or driving. I think about what I want my essay to sound like and what kinds of ideas I want to put down. After I have a pretty good sense about what I want my paper to be like I sit down in a quiet place where I'm able to concentrate. I think I spend most of my time on the introduction and thesis. I think these are the most important because I want to catch the reader's attention and introduce my idea for the whole paper. I try to make the paper sound like the final paper as much as possible that way I'll have little editing to do. After I write the paper I like to read it over and over again and edit it to make it sound more formal or to make it relate to my audience better. Other times I'll just write a first draft that are just made of ideas, they're sentences that just come out of my head and I would adjust the paper to what I think would be good. I don't need a special pen or a special computer I just need the right mindset!! :-)
